This Earnings and Payout Policy supplements the Numo Drivers Terms of Service and defines how driver earnings are calculated, tracked, and paid out.
Earnings Components
1. Base Delivery Fee:
Calculated dynamically per delivery based on:
- Distance from restaurant to customer (primary factor)
- Estimated delivery time and traffic conditions
- Demand and availability of drivers (surge pricing during peak hours)
- Order size and complexity
- Displayed upfront before you accept the order
- Non-negotiable once accepted
2. Customer Tips:
- 100% of tips go directly to driver (no platform commission)
- Customers can tip in-app during or after delivery
- Tips added to your earnings immediately upon customer submission
- Tip amount visible in transaction history
3. Bonuses and Incentives:
- Peak Hour Bonuses: Extra R10-R50 per delivery during high-demand periods (evenings, weekends)
- Completion Bonuses: R100-R500 for completing X deliveries in a week/day
- New Driver Bonuses: R500-R1000 for first 20-50 deliveries (time-limited offers)
- Bonuses subject to eligibility criteria and promotional terms
- Bonuses may change or be discontinued with notice
Earnings Calculation
Per-Delivery Breakdown:
- Gross Earnings = Base Fee + Tips + Bonuses
- Platform Service Fee = 0% of Base Fee only (not applied to tips or bonuses)
- Net Earnings = Gross Earnings - Platform Service Fee
Example:
- Base Fee: R50
- Tip: R20
- Bonus: R10
- Platform Fee: R0 (0% of R50)
- Net Earnings: R80 (R50 + R20 + R10 - R0)
Earnings Dashboard:
- Today: All earnings from deliveries completed today (since 00:00)
- This Week: Monday to Sunday of current week
- This Month: First day to last day of current month
- Total Career Earnings: Lifetime cumulative earnings
- Average per Delivery: Total career earnings รท total deliveries
Real-Time Tracking:
- Earnings update in real-time (30-second cache) during active deliveries
- Transaction history shows individual delivery earnings
- Payment status (pending/completed/paid) tracked per transaction
Payout Schedule and Process
Settlement Schedule:
- Weekly payouts: Every Monday for deliveries completed in previous week (Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59)
- Processing time: 3-5 business days after settlement date
- Bank transfer: Direct deposit to bank account on file
Minimum Payout Threshold:
- R100 minimum: Earnings below R100 roll over to next settlement period
- No maximum payout limit
Payout Method:
- Bank transfer (EFT) to South African bank account
- Provide accurate bank details in App (account holder name, bank name, account number, branch code)
- Update bank details anytime (changes apply to next payout)
Payment Status:
- Pending: Delivery completed, awaiting settlement
- Completed: Included in settlement batch
- Paid: Transferred to your bank account
Adjustments and Deductions
Valid Deductions:
- Platform service fee (0% of base fee)
- Refunds for customer complaints (undelivered orders, driver fault)
- Chargebacks for fraudulent delivery confirmations
- Outstanding negative balances from previous periods
Cancelled Deliveries:
- By customer before pickup: Customer is only able to cancel before the restaurant accepts order.
- By restaurant after acceptance: Restaurant can only cancel before marking as ready for collection.
- By driver after acceptance: No cancel button for drivers
- Failed delivery (customer unavailable): R10-R25 compensation if you attempted delivery and followed protocol
Disputed Earnings:
- Contact support within 7 days of payout with transaction details
- We review disputes within 72 hours
- Adjustments applied to next payout if dispute resolved in your favor
Tax Reporting and Compliance
Independent Contractor Status:
- Earnings are self-employment income, not wages
- No tax withholding from payouts
- You are responsible for quarterly estimated tax payments (if applicable)
Annual Tax Statement:
- Provided by January 31st each year for prior year's earnings
- Includes total gross earnings, platform fees, and net income
- Equivalent to IRP5 or 1099 (South African tax law)
Record Keeping:
- Transaction history available in App for tax records
- Download monthly/yearly earnings reports
- Consult a tax professional for deductions (fuel, vehicle expenses, etc.)
Earnings Transparency
Upfront Information:
- Base delivery fee displayed before acceptance
- Estimated distance and time shown
- Surge pricing indicators during peak hours
No Hidden Fees:
- Platform service fee clearly disclosed (0%)
- No surprise deductions (except valid refunds/chargebacks)

- Escalation process for unresolved issues
This policy complies with South African labor and tax law for independent contractors.
